Wake up button not working (but haven't tested with beta firmware yet) + Emulates keyboard which means nearly every OS should be able to use it. + More responsive than my MCE IR receiver Harmony One (configured as PanasonicTC-P65VT30) The flirc goes into one, the remote in the other to make sure no unwanted signals would disturb the programming. I had already made a keyboard.xls for XBMC, configured the Harmony software and most importantly, I made a list of which button would be assigned to what key and what it does in XBMC.Īlso, after reading about ghost button presses, I decided to use a box that was open at both ends. Since the delivery took nearly three weeks I had plenty of time to prepare. Except for wake up everything worked great the first time. It took about 15 minutes to install the drivers and programm all the keys. Just received my order for 4 flircs and started immediately. You won't get this level of personalized support with any other device. Jason is constantly engaged with the user-base and is committed to developing new features and capabilities. Flirc is a constantly evolving device, with great opportunity for future development. Even after encountering some problems (most can be solved by reading the forums!) I'd still rather use Flirc than anything else. Limited stock on hand sometimes have to wait a couple weeks after ordering to receive a device Firmware can be buggy depending on your system configuration and operating system causes aren't currently well known + Developer (Jason) takes a personal interest in EVERY user-reported issue + Rapid support from dedicated users in forums + Ability to sleep/wake PC with remote (a work in progress, but very promising!) + Reception is solid even when plugged into a rear USB port + Ability to map key combinations (useful for creating a 1-press program startup) + One less remote cluttering up the living room. Universal Remote Controls (URC) RF-20 with generic AUX profile 001 ![]() Looking forward to next stable firmware release and the new GUI. I believe all current weaknesses are known by the developer and work is done solving most of them. The config GUI needs some more work to be more user friendly (the third party Windows tool Flirc Utilities solves some of the current weaknesses). Although recommendations of TV Profiles and additional mappings of the remote keys are available in the forum. If used together with a programmable remote (as Logitech Harmony) it's not very easy to find the most suitable remote profile to use for the Flirc commands. For example are the standard Media Keys not supported (Jason has issued beta firmware for this but it is not yet working ) It's advertised that ALL keyboard keys should work but this is not true with current firmware v1. + Can be used with any remote (a programmable remote as Harmony etc is not needed but still an option) No config should be needed on the respective PC/Mac.
